The Inner Happiness

Find the Keys to Better Life - step by step towards inner balance and happiness.

How can I become happy?
By being self-aware both physically and spiritually. Know yourself.

Lasting happiness and a better life are affected by a number of factors. Just like a car requires four tires for reliable travel, happiness requires several building blocks. Every element is as important as the other, and they are all interacting with each other.

When you are feeling better and you embrace life as happier place, you will also come better person to your love ones. The better you accept yourself, the more easily you accept world around you. The more you love yourself as you are, the more easily you love people around you as they are.

Believe. You can reach better life. Anyone can improve their well-being. It requires no religion, no mystique. No blind faith in anything strange. It only requires work, choices, and will.

This book offers you twelve simple, down-to-earth exercises, which provide new insights into your life and yourself, as well as help on your journey into your own inner happiness.

Find your own path. Own way. Take one step at a time. Do not hurry. Be patient. Above all, be kind to yourself.

"There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so."
William Shakespeare

"It is good to have an end to journey toward,
but it is the journey that matters in the end."
Ursula K. Le Guin

"Whoever is happy will make others happy too."
Anne Frank

"Every day is a good day."
Yun-Men

Book review:

The Inner Happiness (by Mike Keenley)

Another dark and windy October midnight in Finland. After a stressful day I read the
book "The Inner Happiness" by Mike Keenley in my sofa. This is almost a nightly routine for me. I relax and leave the working day behind by browsing this book - although I have read it many times.

I guess I am not the sole western professional who read books about relaxation techniques, happiness, spiritual life and zen-way of living. There are plenty of good books in this sector, but "The Inner Happiness" by Mike Keenley is the best one for me. It is written with a realistic view for a western person.

"The Inner Happiness" is for all of us who cannot jump to yoga, healthy food and all-smile-mood overnight. Mike Keenley’s fine work doesn't promise any magical gimmick to "get happy in two weeks". This book describes the way towards happiness as a long-term process, which
requires work and self-discipline but this process is full of hope.

"The Inner Happiness" rightly teach us to understand, that we human beings consist from spirit, body and soul. Therefore in order to develop ourselves towards happiness we need to work with our all parts - starting from healthy diet, positive thinking and
breathing - a vital part of a healthy life which we western people do not think or discuss at all.

The book starts by defining the happiness. Then it has a very interesting part which tells what happiness was understood to be earlier in the history (including the great Greek thinkers Socrates/Aristotle/Plato) and what people call happiness now. I liked that part of book. Some eastern "way-of-life"-books is too one-dimensional and do not take into account the historical and cultural situation we western people live in.

The Inner Happiness encourages us to understand, where to start to search for our happiness. The next step is according to book to learn to know oneself and to accept oneself. After that the book progresses to the practical part of working towards happiness - breathing, our body, relaxation, diet, our mind and the way how we think.

12 exercises are included in the book. They underline the strength of the book: the wise ideas will turn into part of our everyday life with patience, self-discipline and exercise. My favourite exercise is "What do you see". It helps me to give the weight and value to different things as I want to give. And it helps me to understand how things are related to each other.

What makes "The Inner Happiness" such a great book is, that it is written by a humble way: from a humble person who still keeps working in order to maintain and improve happiness to us - ordinary western people who are not necessarily strong enough to
switch into holy way of life overnight. "The Inner Happiness" is full of practical advices, which really helps in our life-time-mission to be happy and harmonious.

It is not often one praises a book because one gets relaxed and sleepy by reading the book before the night. But yes, that is the case with "The Inner Happiness" - and I'll start the next day by stretching my body after I have woken up - according to another
practical, useful advise I have picked from "The Inner Happiness".
